Although the Heights of Abraham is the Peak Districts oldest tourist attraction since 1984 it has become most famous as the home of Britains first alpine style cable car system.
At the time of its construction this groundbreaking project was not only the first of its kind in the British Isles but was also regarded as a landmark in tourism, helping regenerate the Derwent Valley area. This coupled with the challenge of the terrain and the commercial need to open on time, within budget, and achieve the business plan, was the subject of an award winning television documentary.
The invaluable experience of that project formed the foundation of our Special Projects Division which has since been involved in a wide range of transport and tourism related projects not only in the UK, but around the globe and includes:
The British Airways London Eye - England
The National Garden Festival, Stoke on Trent - England
Alton Towers Theme Park - England
Beijing Badaling Cable Car Company - China
Abdula Gardens - Jordan
Cape Town Cable Car Company - South Africa
With valuble first hand experience we can evaluate a customer's enquiry, assist with the business plan, funding, supply, construction, commissioning, and also with operating the final product.
Our practical approach compliments the work of the design team and ensures that the project opens on time within budget and that the performance matches the client's requirements.

The British Airways London Eye is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and identifiable pieces of modern engineering and our Special Projects Division was approached to advise on the design and construction of what were to become the world's most advanced aerial passenger capsules.
