Working as part of a team, you’ll deliver regular tours of our two show caves at The Heights of Abraham: The Great Masson & The Great Rutland.
Telling subterranean stories is only part of the role. You’ll also be responsible for high standards of presentation across The Heights. You’ll be key in ensuring the site is safe, tidy and presentable before opening, and throughout the day. You’ll always be on-hand to help and assist our visitors with any questions or queries.
Whilst we encourage guides to adopt their own presentation style, you’ll be expected to work to clear guidelines in terms of delivering factually accurate, relevant and engaging tour content.
The safety of visitors during these tours is of paramount importance and full health and safety training will be given to you.
You’ll be a friendly, presentable and enthusiastic team player who enjoys engaging with visitors, both individually and in groups. You’ll be educated to GCSE level or above with fantastic communication skills. We attract a diverse range of visitors, so you’ll have the ability to tailor your presentation style according to your audience.
You’ll have experience in working in an environment where the customer always comes first. An interest in local history or geology is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.
Due to the terrain at The Heights, both above and below ground, you’ll be of reasonable physical fitness and mobility. You’ll feel at ease working underground.
Our cave tours run like clockwork, so you’ll have good time management skills and will be able to adapt your tour times according to our operational needs. You’ll have an eye for great attention to detail and cleanliness.
You’ll have a flexible attitude to working arrangements and times. If needed, you won’t be afraid to get stuck in and help other visitor-facing departments across the site.
