With the weather forecasts warning of extreme heat, we know a place where you can GET COOL.
Come underground in the Great Masson Cavern where the temperature remains a constant 7oC/44oF all the year round. On a hot day it is wonderfully cooling to go from the heat of the sun into the natural air conditioning below ground, where with the help of state of the art lighting, from the flicker of a single miner's candle to the whole chamber being awash with colour, your guide will take you on a fascinating journey deep into the hillside and back in time through the cavern's history.
Above ground under the shade of leafy trees and summer umbrellas there are numerous picnic tables where you can GET COOL and perhaps enjoy an icecream from our Peak Dairy Kiosk.
