Wishing for a Wonder Wall
School holiday creative workshops by Tess Willoughby will be held from Tuesday to Sunday,
June 1st - 6th. Visitors especially children are being asked to help create a Wonder Wall of
colours and words and in between a chance to add wishes to the Wishing Tree.
Over the 6 days Tess will encourage everyone to put their own design on a wooden tile using
brightly coloured acrylic paints. The finishing touch will be to write on the back what they feel
is their favourite word of wonder. These will then all be hung to create the Wonder Wall,
alongside the children's activity area, ‘Explorers challenge'. There will also be the opportunity
to add a wish to a foil leaf and hang it on the tree nearby then dance to help bring the wish
come true.
This will be Tess's 3rd visit to the Heights this year because, she added ‘of all the
workshops I do, working here has a real buzz and I know the work by all the visitors will be
seen for years. The first wishes on the tree were done 5 years ago!' The event gives
families a chance to work on a project together, whilst still having time to explore the Caverns
and exhibitions before returning home via the Cable Car.
