BBC's "Mongrel" puppeteer returns to Punch & Judy on Monday 12th July 2010 sees the start of a summer season of traditional Punch & Judy shows at The Heights of Abraham. ‘Professor' Richard Coombs professional puppeteer returns to Matlock Bath for an 8 week run, Monday - Friday plus the Bank Holiday Weekend until 3rd September.
Performances will be in the traditional Punch & Judy theatre so reminiscent of seaside holidays of old. With the striped tent and the theatre arch Richard brings the characters to life. For those who have seen the recent series on BBC called Mongrels will have been watching him at work although in a much more adult format!
Richard commented, "I can incorporate plenty of audience interaction and "He's Behind You!" and "Oh yes You DID!" if the crowd are up for it. But my show is not reliant on audience participation and shouting to keep it going; it runs on its own energy, and can play even if the watchers are shy or not verbally responsive".
The hilltop woodlands of the Heights of Abraham Matlock Bath this summer will be echoing to the sound of music this summer. Each weekend from July 24th to August 22nd at 1pm and 3pm the world of music from Samba , Brass, Classical and Ceilidh will bring joy to the visitors.
