FAQs

How do I pay for a coach group visit?

We want your visit to involve as little stress as possible, so we take payments for groups at the ticket office on the day. This is just in case your numbers change before you visit- we don’t want to leave you out of pocket because one of your group can’t come.

If you would like to apply for an account with the Heights, so that you can pay by invoice after your visit, you must contact the Office and set up this facility in advance. A deposit may be requested at the time of booking. To ask about setting up an account please contact office@heightsofabraham.com

How long should I allow for the visit?

From the outside, it may appear that all there is to do at the Heights is a quick ride up and down in a cable car, take some pictures, lovely views, done. But we are so much more than a cable car! In fact we recommend that our guests allow 3-4 hours for their visit so they have chance to enjoy all of what we have to offer. With two guided cavern tours, three exhibitions, two shops, three film presentations, a café, a restaurant, an ice cream kiosk, a huge tower to climb, an SSSI to see, two adventure playgrounds, plenty of panoramic views and lots of seasonal entertainment- a trip to the Heights of Abraham is a jam packed day out!

Can I come to see it for myself before I bring my group?

Of course! We would love to help you plan a brilliant day out for your group, this is why we offer a complimentary familiarisation ticket for two group organisers. If this is something you’re interested in please contact the office on 01629 582 365.

Where can our coach park?

Unfortunately due to the nature of the site (being perched on a steep hillside) we do not have our own car park. However, there is car parking for coaches situated around 400 yards away in the Matlock Bath Railway Station. Our advice to coach drivers is that you drop your group off at the main building in the railway station and park your coach in the signposted coach parking area. The ticket office is just a short walk along our newly rejuvenated access path- there are plenty of signs to point the way so you won’t get lost!

What if my group can no longer come?

It happens, and we understand that sometimes things just don’t go to plan. If your group can no longer come, and you’ve already pre-booked, please let us know with as much notice as possible.

Are there any benefits for coach drivers?

Absolutely. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to welcome so many groups to the Heights. As a thank you, we offer a complimentary ticket for coach drivers to enjoy a day out with us too, as well as an £8.00 meal voucher to use in our café on the day your group visit. This benefit only applies to coach tours and professional travel organisations.

How do we get to the summit?

If you’ve come this far and you’re still unaware that there is a cable car, you may want to re-think your visit. The only way to get to the summit is by taking the cable car. Each cable car can hold 6 adults, or the equivalent weight if there’s children in your group. When you arrive, a cable car steward will advise you on the best way to seat your group. The cable cars run frequently and in sets of three, so you’ll never wait longer than three minutes for the next set to come along.

Can wheelchairs and pushchairs go on the cable cars?

They can! Please advise your group to fold pushchairs before you reach the cable car boarding area. If a pushchair is not able to be folded, please ensure you speak to a cable car steward.

The cable cars are wheelchair friendly and each car can accommodate one wheelchair with one carer. For more details about accessibility at the Heights, please click here.

I've got so many more questions!

We love that you want to plan your group day out down to the finest detail, so please give us a call on 01629 582 365 or email office@heightsofabraham.com if you have any more questions, and we can discuss your upcoming trip with you.
