THE MYSTERY OF THE GOLDEN EGGS

Lady Lettuce, the infamous Matlock Bath geologist and explorer, has been investigating some unusual geological activity on Masson Hill.... Suddenly the ground shakes, and from it emerges mysterious looking golden eggs across the Heights of Abaraham estate. You are invited to find all the eggs, solve the mystery and win your treasured geologists medal, presented by Lady Lettuce herself!

New for 2025: Take a guided tour through a geological time tunnel, as the secrets of the Great Masson Cavern are brought to life with surround sound and special effects.

Join our Victorian cavern guides on a journey into the Great Rutland Cavern to hear tales about the lead miners and showmen who worked in this underground world.

Through three exhibitions, discover our 240-year story, one of Derbyshire's least known yet most intriguing tales.

Our two adventure playgrounds are sure to keep your children busy, with giant slides, climbing frames and more to explore.

Explore the Estate

Admission includes entry to all tours, exhibitions and facilities at the Heights of Abraham. Most visitors spend three to five hours here.

What does my ticket include?

We are open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays until 20th March

Open daily from 20th March - 1st November

We open at 10:00 and close at 16:30.

Please follow the postcode DE4 3NT which will take you to the nearest car park. It is a short riverside walk from there, just follow the signs.

More Travel Info

We don't have our own car park. There are four main car parks in Matlock Bath. These are all run by Derbyshire Dales District Council, and therefore are all pay and display. The machines accept cash or you can pay by phone. Please note, the machines do not accept cards.

We love to welcome all visitors to the Heights, but due to the nature of the site, there are gradients that some guests may find a challenge.

Dogs are welcome on the cable cars and across the estate. They cannot go into the caverns or the restaurant.

Hilltop Dining

Enjoy a wide selection of food and drink across the estate. Dine at the Vista Restaurant with its exquisite views, take a light lunch at the Terrace Cafe, a take-away drink from the Snap Tin or a local brew from the Tavern.
