After 2PM in December, car parking is free in the Derbyshire Dales car parks, including the Matlock Bath Train Station.
We don't have our own car park. There are four main car parks in Matlock Bath. These are all run by Derbyshire Dales District Council, and therefore are all pay and display. The machines accept cash or you can pay by phone. Please note, the machines do not accept cards.
We recommend you arrive to Matlock Bath as early as you can. If your time slot is in the afternoon, why not spend your morning exploring the local area. Matlock Bath is often described as a 'seaside town, without the sea', so get your car parking spot and have a stroll around to discover something new!
Staying in the area? Did you know, you can purchase a 'Rover Pass' on the PaybyPhone app, which gives you unlimited parking in the Derbyshire Dales car parks for 3 or 7 days. Read more here: Rover Pass

We recommend parking here as it is the closest car park to the Heights and also has a dedicated access path straight to our base station. It is a pay and display car park. The rates are £6 all day, £5 for 4 hours or £3.80 for 3 hours. The rates are the same in all Derbyshire Dales car parks. You can pay by coins or the Paybyphone app.
Blue Badge holders please note this car park does require payment.
There are no height barriers in this car park.
The next closest car park is at the opposite end of the village. It is also a pay and display car park and is approximately a 15 minute walk through Matlock Bath to our Cable Car Base Station. As you are driving, head up the hill signposted for Gulliver's and the car park is on the left.
There is a height barrier of 2.1m at this car park.
This car park is also a pay and display car park and is approximately a 15 minute walk to our Cable Car Base Station. It is closer to Matlock than Matlock Bath, head towards Matlock and it is on your right, past the 'High Tor Hotel' next to the speed cameras.
There is a height barrier of 2.1m at this car park.
This is a short stay car park, with a maximum stay of 2 hours. We do not recommend parking here if you are planning to spend a full day with us.
Across the street from Temple Road is a smaller car park, located outside the Matlock Bath Pavilion (Big pink building). To reach the Heights from here is another approximate 15 minute walk through the village.
There is no height barrier at this car park.
This car park is a little further away and is not run by the council. It is a large pay and display car park and is approximately 20 minutes walk from the Heights. The walk is through the village main promenade, so if you are planning to park here, allow extra time to visit the shops and arcades of Matlock Bath. We recommend using this car park if the nearby council ones are full.
There is no height barrier at this car park though there is a tight turn to get in. It is also a 24 hour car park.
Visiting during the peak season? It may be easier to take advantage of the Park & Ride the Train service by parking in Matlock or Cromford and catching the train to Matlock Bath. You can also save 20% on cable car tickets if you do this by simply showing us your train ticket to Matlock Bath.
If you are planning to visit us during peak periods and school holidays, you may find that these car parks fill up very quickly.
If this is the case and you are struggling to find a space, we recommend that you park in Matlock Train Station (DE4 3NA) just down the road and get the train (which takes around 2 minutes), or walk 25-30 minutes to the cable cars.
Alternatively, you can park in Cromford Rugby Club (DE4 3RQ) and walk approximately 25-30 minutes to the cable cars. There is a height barrier of 1.93m at this car park. You could also park at Cromford Mills car park (DE4 3RQ) where there is no height barrier.
Don't worry if you don't arrive at the Heights at the time you were hoping to, the cable cars run continuously and you won't miss your booking slot.
