Heritage Estate & Walks

Zig and zag your way around our 60 acre estate using the original routes that were built for curious Georgian tourists. Meet the Victorians during term time and learn about life from their perspective.

Meet the Victorians

Mr Benjamin Bryan, owner of the Heights of Abraham in 1854, and Mrs Brassington, a Victorian visitor, roam the paths of the estate Monday to Friday during term time. Take one of Mr Bryan's historical walking tours to learn about the industrial history of the area, and engage in conversation with Mrs Brassington to learn the local gossip and tips and tricks of being a Victorian woman.

Plus take an underground tour from a Victorian cavern guides perspective at the Great Rutland Cavern.

Walk the Heritage Paths

The Heights is full of a winding network of serpentine paths for you to explore, built for the original Georgian visitors to ease the climbing of Masson Hill when the estate first opened in 1787. Walk in the footsteps of those from the past through the savage garden that was planted in 1780 and discover our two heritage structures on your way around the estate.
