Each cable car can comfortably seat 6 guests.
See our car parking page here.
You can bring a pushchair on the cable cars and push it around the trail, though please be aware there are some steep slopes involved.
We are sorry but we believe that, for health and safety reasons, the Lights of Abraham trail is not accessible for those in wheelchairs due to uneven ground, steps and steep slopes. If you would still like to come, please be aware you would not be able to access the whole trail. It is unsafe for mobility scooters so unfortunately we cannot allow those.
Dogs are not permitted at this event.
The only access to the Lights of Abraham is by cable car.
We recommend allowing between 1 and 2 hours for a visit. There is a one way route to ensure you see all the light effects. The route, including the cable car journey should take you around 1 hour, which gives you plenty time to visit the shop, cafe and toilets too!
The Vista Bar will be open serving festive tipples alongside its usual drinks menu, with pizzas on offer too. Downstairs in the cafe we will be serving jacket potatoes, hot dogs, loaded chips and delicious cake. The Snap Tin will be open too with take away drinks and festive treats. We also have lovely firepits to toast marshmallows on and keep warm!
The site is inherently steep and the ground in parts is uneven, therefore for your safety, we suggest the trail may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. If you would still like to come, please be aware you would not be able to access the whole trail.
Yes we do, and we recommend booking early as tickets are limited.
We recommend sensible shoes and warm clothes.
Yes we’re happy to accept cash payments at the ticket office, gift shop, café, restaurant and mobile catering units.
In the event of extreme weather or other events which mean we are unable to open the Lights of Abraham, we will make every attempt to contact you where possible to reschedule your visit. If this is not possible, you will be provided with a refund.
Some buses do continue running in Matlock into the evening, but not all. The trentbarton 6.1 between Derby, Belper and Bakewell runs both directions until 23:00. The Stagecoach X17 and High Peak Transpeak services both stop running by 20:00. The train service is hourly and runs until 23:17.
