18th and 19th May 2024

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2024

The Heights of Abraham is a special place to visit any time of year, but on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May the hills are alive with the sound of music! Whatever your taste in music, you'll find something you can enjoy during our BIG MUSIC WEEKEND. Scroll down the page for full details of who is playing and when.

Musicians performing over this weekend (see performance times below)

CUT DIAMOND BAND Legendary hits from across the decades. This Sheffield based five piece band have been together since 2018. Songs from Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Neil Diamond and The Monkeys appear in the set list, along with some fine Americana and good old fashioned rock and roll. Get your dancing shoes on!

KOOTCH are a four-piece folk band that play a mix of self-penned songs and trad tunes. With Beth on vocals, guitar and mandolin, Dean on guitar and drum, Katy on fiddle, and Ian on banjo, Kootch like to weave tales of love and loss (this is folk music after all), spooky yarns, and stompy tunes. To get to know Kootch more, have a look at their website: www.kootch.net

PERPETUAL GROOVE MACHINE are a Nottingham based covers trio, with Rupert Stone on guitar, Rob Baynes on bass and Davide Gallo on drums. Expect funky well known songs which are sure to get you singing along and tapping your feet!

THE JIM BURKE BAND plays a unique blend of blues, jazz and ragtime, both old and new, with great passion and intensity. Which makes our live performances an 'irresistible mix of energy, entertainment and expertise.'

TIM HOAD Blending together ambient vocal harmonies, live guitar loops and bright reverberated chords, Timothy finds home in a genre he labels ‘new-age folk’. Drawing upon his main influence, Enya, along with great singer-songwriters Billy Joel and Chris Cornell, Timothy’s unique music is designed to illuminate the listener’s imagination.

JOHN GILL first discovered the power of song-writing when he made the school bully cry with a song he wrote about a dying dog. Since then he has amassed an enviable catalogue of songs written for many and varied audiences including children. There are songs to make us laugh, think, to make our heart break or sing. And songs that just, simply, make you want to dance and sing into the early hours.

THE V&A ENSEMBLE a small mixed-voice choir singing a range of original compositions and arrangements in four-part harmony. It's twenty members hail from across Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire. For more information, please visit our website: https://vandaensemble.org.uk
